Tread Lightly

I'm choosing
to live
a quiet life
not the high life
​
letting
my footsteps
fall gently
on the earth
​
in step with
the season
that
I am in
​
aspiring to
light my portion
of the world
with gladness
​
rather than
curse
the
imperfections
​
what
a relief it is
to finally
let go
​
Hope
My possibility
in the midst
of the impossible
My breath
in the sea
of breathless pain
My light
in the darkest
of my anxious thoughts
Hope
you never
disappoint
Persevere
There is a space
beyond the trees
beyond the poor
reflection
there is a whisper
on the wind
unfazed
by imperfection
beyond we'll see
with brand new eyes
that perseverance
wins
and hope will bring
its true reward
resolving
everything
The 6 o'clock News
Today
I'm resisting
the urge
to watch
the 6 o'clock news
I'm choosing
to look up
into
an endless sky
and remember
I was born
for village life
not to bear
the weight
of the world
I will care
for those
assigned to me
and believe
faithfulness will turn the tide
